Hwang Eui-jo, who ‘didn’t get a chance to start’, couldn’t leave a ‘eyeprint’ on Klinsman

Hwang Eui-jo (31, FC Seoul), who started for the first time in a long time, could not take advantage of the opportunity.

The Korean national soccer team,스포츠토토 led by coach Jurgen Klinsmann, played a warm-up game against Uruguay at the Seoul World Cup Stadium at 8:00 pm on the 28th and lost 1-2.

Director Klinsman’s ‘first win’ failed. Previously, on the 24th, Korea faced Colombia in Ulsan and finished with a 2-2 draw.

On this day, Hwang Ui-jo took the opportunity to start the national team game in about 8 months. He was on the ground for about 70 minutes, but he didn’t show much.

Until the first half, Uruguay took the mood. Not many balls were put into the front of the Korean camp. However, after Lee Kang-in broke through the flank, Korea often created good opportunities.

However, Hwang’s presence was still absent. He seemed to be waiting for the ball to be put up front. He didn’t actively use the ground wide.

Hwang Ui-jo, who had previously been on the bench in the game against Colombia, had to make good use of his time that day. He had to make a ‘good first impression’ to coach Klinsman, but despite being a front-line striker, he did not appear to hit a threatening shot.

Rather, he made Oh Hyeon-gyu (Celtic), who passed the baton, stand out.

As soon as Oh Hyeon-gyu came in as a replacement for Hwang Eui-jo, he sent the ball into the corner where the goalkeeper couldn’t use his hand and shook Uruguay’s net. Unfortunately, offside was declared with a difference of a piece of paper, but Oh Hyun-kyu’s positioning and shooting ability stood out.

In the game against Colombia, Hwang Ui-jo and Oh Hyeon-gyu were replaced by Cho Kyu-seong (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors).

Cho Kyu-seong has already caught the eye of coach Klinsman by scoring multiple goals in the group stage against Ghana at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, which ended last December. Also, being the K-League 1 top scorer last season is a plus factor for Cho.

However, Hwang Ui-jo has nothing to offer. He returned to the domestic stage after failing to secure a starting spot in Greece ahead of this season. On this day, Hwang Ui-jo blew his chance.
