KT Wiz’s Kang Baek-ho has been hitting well in the Futures (2nd Division) League.
Kang Baek-ho started as the No. 2 designated hitter and went 1-for-2 with a double, a home run, 메이저놀이터 an RBI, and a walk in the Futures (2nd Team) League game against Commerce at Iksan Stadium on April 2.
In his first at-bat, Kang hit a 144-kilometer-per-hour fastball from Commerce starter Kim Hyun-soo for a single, then added a sacrifice fly in the third inning.
In the fifth, he drew a walk to complete his multi-hit game, and in the seventh, he grounded out to shortstop.
In 57 games this season, Kang is batting .261 with six home runs, 32 RBIs, and a .744 OPS. He had a particularly rough stretch in July, batting just 0.136 in eight games, and was eventually removed from the first team roster on July 27.
Baek-ho Kang made his first appearance in the Futures League on July 1 against the Sangmu, his first game in 36 days, and made his presence felt with a double.
As he gains experience in the second team, he is expected to be called up to the first team sooner rather than later.
KT manager Lee Kang-cheol said about Kang Baek-ho on the 1st, “If he improves in the second team, he will be called up to the first team. Even if there are redundant positions, he should be called up. Just waiting as a pinch hitter is big.”
Kang Baek-ho gave the green light for his return to the first team with a long hit and multi-RBI performance in two games.
