“Oh Ji-hwan is the best shortstop in Korea, praying for a multi-year contract jackpot”

Doosan infielder Heo Kyung-min (33) congratulated his best friend Oh Ji-hwan (33), who is the same age from a rival club, on winning his first Golden Glove award.

Heo Gyeong-min met with reporters at the Doosan Bears’ 41st anniversary ceremony held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 16th and praised his friend, saying, “Oh Ji-hwan is the best baseball shortstop in Korea.”

Heo Gyeong-min and Oh Ji-hwan are friends of the same age, born in 1990. Heo Kyung-min, who graduated from Gwangju Ilgo, ranked 7th in the 2009 Doosan 2nd 1st round, and Oh Ji-hwan, who graduated from Gyeonggi High School, entered the professional league after receiving the 2009 LG 1st nomination and grew up as an infielder representing Korea. The two players also have memories of winning together at the World Youth Baseball Championship in Edmonton, Canada in 2008.

At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Heo Kyung-min also wore the Taegeuk mark with Oh Ji-hwan and worked together in the infield. At the time, Heo Kyung-min expressed his expectation, saying, “Beside me is my friend Oh Ji-hwan, the best defender in Korea, so I wonder if I can be of more help.” 메이저사이트

Heo Gyeong-min first enjoyed the joy of winning the Golden Globes, which was to select the best player for each position. He won the golden glove in the third baseman category in 2018 and was recognized as the top third baseman in Korea along with Choi Jeong (SSG). In the case of Oh Ji-hwan, he has been the starting shortstop since 2010, his second year at the club, but it wasn’t until 2022, his 14th year as a pro, that he finally won his first Golden Glove in the shortstop category.

Heo Kyung-min said, “I’ve told you a few years ago, but Oh Ji-hwan is the best baseball shortstop in Korea. The friend who proved that is so amazing,” he said. He has that much ability, and the results proved his skills. If that happens, I will also sincerely congratulate you.”

However, since 2018, Heo Kyung-min has watched the Golden Globe Awards on TV for four consecutive years. Prior to the 2021 season, he signed a 4+3 year, 8.5 billion won free agent contract with Doosan, but it fell short of expectations with a 2021 batting average of 20 7 8 ri in 136 games and 20 8 9 ri in 121 games in 2022.

Heo Gyeong-min, who was stimulated by his best friend’s Golden Glove award, said, “Now I also want to go to the Golden Glove ceremony again. In fact, I would go to the awards ceremony even if I placed second in the third baseman category, but it’s a bit difficult to go to the lower ranks and wear a suit.”
