Adam Wainwright (42, St. Louis Cardinals), who is two wins shy of 200 for his career, failed to secure another victory.
St. Louis took the field against the Atlanta Braves on Aug. 8 at Truiste Park in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Wainwright threw 104 pitches (66 for strikes) over 5 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits. He gave up four home runs.
The Cardinals were unable to overcome Wainwright’s big inning and fell to 5-8. The loss was Wainwright’s 11th of the season.
Wainwright has now pitched 89 innings in 19 games this season, with a 3-11 record and an 8.19 ERA. That’s a five-point improvement over his 3.17 ERA last year.
Wainwright homered off Ronald Acuña Jr. in the first and sixth innings, Matt Olson in the fifth, Michael Harris II in the sixth, and Eddie Rosario in the first.
Prior to last year, Wainwright had 195 career wins and a 3.17 season ERA. So it seemed only a matter of time before Wainwright reached 200 wins.
먹튀검증 Wainwright also started this season in May, but already had three wins in his first eight games. It was clear that he would reach 200 wins by the end of the first half or early in the second half.
However, after winning 198 games, Wainwright gave up a whopping 54 earned runs in 45 1/3 innings over 11 games. That’s a 10.72 ERA. Not a winning record.
Wainwright also had two quality starts last month, but he didn’t get much support from the St. Louis offense.
Now, the season is coming to a close. Wainwright doesn’t have much of a chance. He needs to win his next game to have any hope of reaching 200 wins.
