The Hanwha Eagles defeated the Doosan Bears for the second straight day behind a strong pitching performance from starter Ricardo Sanchez and big hits from their leadoff hitters.
Hanwha defeated Doosan 8-3 in the 15th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on Wednesday. 온라인바카라 They rode the momentum of a 6-1 victory the previous day to clinch the three-game weekend series.
Hanwha got a quality start from Sanchez, who went six innings, allowing three runs on four hits, one home run and two walks while striking out six. It was his seventh win of the season with a quality start.
Sanchez had been winless in his last five games since 1 July against the Samsung Lions, but he rebounded to record his first win of the second half. He was able to keep the team’s winning streak alive and feel good about his next start.
Hanwha’s bullpen was also strong. Jang Si-hwan, Kim Bum-soo, and Joo Hyun-sang pitched one-hit shutout innings in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, respectively, to preserve the lead.
Moon Hyun-bin, who started at leadoff and second base, was the spark plug for the offence with two hits and two runs scored in five at-bats. Her leadoff single in the first inning and a double with one out in the second inning both scored runs.
Chae Eun-sung, the No. 4 hitter, came through with the game-winning double in the bottom of the first inning with runners on first and second. Kim Tae-yeon, Lee Jin-young and Williams also pounded the Doosan mound with RBI singles.
With the win, Hanwha moved to 40 wins, 52 losses and five ties on the season, trailing fifth-place Doosan (49 wins, 47 losses and one tie) by seven games. It’s not an easy task, but it paves the way for the team to remain in contention for a postseason berth through the completion of its remaining 46 games.
After the game, Hanwha manager Choi Won-ho was pleased with the way Sanchez handled the situation and did his job with six innings of three-run ball. “The bullpen did a good job of shutting down the Doosan bats,” he said.
He also praised the hitters, saying, “The batters showed a lot of focus from the beginning of the game, including Chae Eun-sung’s RBI double in the first inning, which allowed us to take the lead.”
Hanwha, meanwhile, will have the next day off before travelling to Changwon on the 15th for a three-game midweek series against the fourth-ranked NC Dinos.
